Canning
I've been canning. I think I like it. Is that weird? So, about a month ago I visited my family in Utah and my sister McCall was in the middle of canning peaches, salsa, and jam. I was so impressed and wanted to copy so badly. I went and purchased a steam canner and some jars and then watched for the fruit to go on sale. Went it went on sale I was so excited, I got pears, peaches, and tomatoes. Yes, I canned them, yes, it was an all day process, yes, it was a mess and yes, I liked it. There was something about seeing all my jars sitting on the counter and seeing the "fruits" of my labors. :-) Thank you McCall for the inspiration.

Not weird. Awesome. And I'm so jealous!
Ditto what Kristy said. Canning is a homemaking frontier I have not conquered yet--I really want to, but it intimidates me!
I love it. My mom and sister and I made a ton of peach jam a few weeks ago and canned it. I love "domestic" things way more than I want to admit sometimes.
Great job Melissa! You over-acheiver you! :)
i'll not soon forget your comment in the car as we were on our way to pick up the canner supplies - "i'm just so excited to be a homemaker". in my mind i've done my job. thanks for the "full-circle". it meant more than you'll know until your daughter becomes a mother and you hear something similar. 143.
Maybe I would have to see the jars on the counter to be inspired...although I LOVE canned peaches!! Someday I will be domestic...and actually good at it :) My poor husband!
You make me want to do some canning! I wish I knew how! Maybe I will figure it out...if there is anything left to can.
That's so cool! Way to go. I think that is awesome, really I would love to can, I just need to get some serious motivation, not to mention the juggling skills. I really don't know how you do it all.
i am so glad you enjoyed it, some day we will enjoy it together.
